Remember Mississippi super PAC prepared to reveal Sen. Wicker’s glaring lack of conservative credentials
Biloxi, MS (February 28, 2018) – Chris McDaniel officially declared his candidacy for the U.S. Senate today in Ellisville, MS. He will campaign to run for Senator Wicker’s seat. Tommy Barnett, Treasurer of Remember Mississippi super PAC, released the following statement in response to this announcement:
“We are thrilled that Chris McDaniel has decided to run for the U.S. Senate in Mississippi. McDaniel is a true conservative and reflects Mississippi values, where his opponent plainly does not.
“Mississippi’s voice in federal government has long been silent, their conservative values shoved aside in favor of more spending, crushing national debt, and lax immigration policies. Senator Wicker is no conservative. The Conservative Review’s Liberty Score rates him an “F” with a grade of 32, FreedomWorks gives him a lifetime score of 68, and Heritage Foundation rates him an “F” with a 52. Wicker has consistently voted to raise the debt limit. During his time in federal office, the national debt has grown from $4.8 trillion to $20.5 trillion. And Sen. Wicker has had no problem voting to increase the number of foreign guest workers, undermining American job holders, including thousands in Mississippi.
“McDaniel favors tight control on immigration, having written and passing the state’s Employment Protection Act of 2008, which requires employers to use E-Verify to check immigration status. McDaniel is in favor of significant spending cuts if the debt limit should increase. He also favors states’ rights and the decisions of their voters, which is why he opposes retiring the Mississippi flag into a museum. It’s time that Mississippians had their say for who they – not some dirty dealing political operatives – want to represent them in the U.S. Senate.
“The time for career politicians is over. When Senator Wicker was elected to federal office, Windows 95 had just been released and the OJ Simpson trial had captured the attention of the country. It’s time for new leadership in Mississippi and we are confident that Chris McDaniel will be the choice of Mississippians as they elect their next U.S. Senator.”
The super PAC announced last month they had raised over one million dollars. They also released a letter late last year of over 60 conservative leaders in Mississippi encouraging McDaniel to run for Senate.
